Bindubba Sequencer - Eurorack version

This is a re-boot of the bindubba3 sequencer which was originally released in March 2010, tho there have been a few changes since that version. The bindubba3 has no software or microprocessors on board, it is all CMOS, op amps and vactrols.
It is designed to be used with the Divide & Conquer.

This sequencer has 6 inputs to control the stepping. Two clock inputs control the count in horizontal and vertical directions. The two jump inputs send the next step somewhere else that depends on the 2^2 and 2^3 counts of the chips of both step directions......ie somewhat uncontrollable but it enables more complex patterns to be created. The two direction inputs change the direction of the count.

There are two voltage controlled slewed outputs, two CV outputs giving the same CV, 1 inverted CV output and 16 gate outputs.

Covfefe buss board

This buss is designed for use with the small PSU board.
It has 10 connectors, space for decoupling caps, LEDs, 8 mounting holes and spade mounts. It has connections at both ends so that it can be daisy chained. The PCB is 2mm thick to reduce flex when plugging/unplugging.

Hyperchaos Deluxe

PCB set = USD23
Panel = USD22
assembled = USD220

Hyperchaos Deluxe is based on the description in A UNIQUE SIGNUM SWITCH FOR CHAOS AND HYPERCHAOS by C. Li et al and is an expansion of the circuit used in Primal Hyperchaos.

There are 10 different CV outputs and 2 gate outputs. The CV IN is associated with the CLIMAX pot which determines how high the peaks go. The module can be greatly influenced by the CV in signal and can exhibit some fairly nutty responses at times.

The Rate input can be used in a few different ways:
1. With nothing patched in the circuit operates in slow mode
2. With a cable patched in, but its other end hanging loose, the circuit operates in fast mode.
3. Feed a gate signal to the Rate input and the circuit will vary between fast and slow modes (gate high = slow)
4. Feed a fast clock signal and you can get the circuit to operate at different speeds. This is quite dependent upon the frequency of the incoming clock and can take some tweaking to get right. If the clock is too fast it will mainly appear to be in slow mode.

Probably 3 is the best option as you can have the CVs cruising along and then suddenly going nutso when the gate ends.

Not my video but a great track using the Hyperchaos Deluxe

Sly Grogan

PCB = USD18
Panel = USD20
assembled = USD170

SLY GROGAN is an envelope generator based on the design in Electronotes #86. It can produce a wide variety of different envelopes and bursts, perhaps most interesting is the ability to have the envelopes ringing after the attack stage. It also works well as a voltage controlled LFO, tho the module is neither a LFO nor a regular ADSR.
Please note: it no longer contains a VCA, this was dropped in favour of tapping the extra outputs (2&3).

Nice run-thru by Learning Modular:

Divide & Conquer

PCB set = USD22
panel = USD20
Assembled = USD190

This is a clock divider module containing 4 different dividers:
  1. /2, /4, /8, /16, /32, /64, /128, /256
  2. /1.5, /3
  3. /2.5, /5
  4. /3.5, /7

All sections will run off a signal patched into section 1.
The module can be patch-programmed to obtain other divisions. For example; patch output /2 into section 4 to get divide by 14 from the /7 output.
The circuit is CMOS based and contains no microprocessors.

This module is intended to be a companion module for the Bindubba Sequencer.
Yes, the first run of panels has an invisible '64'.

PRIMAL - Hyperchaos

PCBs - USD18
Panels - USD20

Hyperchaos circuit based on a paper by C Li, et al. It can be built to run at different speeds simply by installing different capacitors. Very easy build, no special components needed.
There are 5 different CV outputs and 1 gate output. The CV IN is associated with the CLIMAX pot which determines how high the peaks go. The module can be greatly influenced by the CV in signal and can exhibit some fairly nutty responses at times.

ARSEq - 10HP eurorack version

Panel = USD22
PCB set = USD23

Build guide & BOM

Panel template

The ARSEq ( = Attack Release SEquencer) is, as the name implies, a hybrid sequencer and AR envelope generator. It contains a counter circuit with reset, 4 envelope generators and a mixer/inverter stage to get the sequenced output. The envelopes can be inverted if desired to give a greater voltage and complexity range of the output sequence. The individual 4 envelopes are available on the panel as well.
The main difference with this circuit and a regular EG is each envelope requires 2 clock pulses, one to start the attack and the next to start the release stage.
Yes the pots on the panel are a bit tight at 10HP, I should have made it wider, maybe I will one day? In the meantime it is best to build this with knurled shaft pots and find some narrow knobs to attach (Thonk have nice ones).

Divine CMOS returns

This is a slimmed down and modified version of the 4U Divine CMOS.
It can be used as a CV pattern generator with slew, frequency divider, gate pattern generator, envelope follower and a ring modulator that provides sub-harmonics that can be mixed together to create new sounds.

Small PSU PCB

...what a lame name, I was gonna call it 'hard candy' but can't be bothered. It was designed to power stand-alone Null-A panels.
Anyway, its about a simple PSU as you can get. Runs on 7812 and 7912 to give +/-12V. If you bolt them to a nice big heatsink, you could even get 1A per rail (using 1.5A spec'd regulators).

This PSU is powered by a 12VAC wallwart, so no need to wire any mains voltages.

The design is a slimmed down version of a PSU we use in the WAMod workshops, the only differences are:
  • only 1 eurorack connector instead of 7
  • no 5V section
  • holes for installing spade connectors
so keeping these differences in mind please refer to the WAMod PSU build guide when putting this together.

Plague of Demons - thru0 VCO

PCB set - USD26
panel - USD24
assembled = USD280

available now

Build guide and panel template

This VCO uses DG202 (or equivalents) analogue switches to achieve the thru 0 function, based on ideas presented in Electronotes EN#75.
Very nice demo of sounds by Steve:

note 20 Jan 2018 - just got asked about this, so to be clear: the thru-0 mark in the centre of the panel is simply to indicate what type of VCO this is. I have no connection with Antumbra modules which use the same mark on all their panels (and were released a few months after this one).
