Single Jerkoff PCBs in stock

These PCBs contain a single jerk chaos circuit. Suitable for Eurorack, panels will be available in late January 2014. A pretty easy build, no rare parts and space on the PCB for optional extra inputs to allow a quad version, known as the Circle Jerk. A limited number of quad panels will be available as well.

1-3 PCBs = $12 each
4 or more PCBs = $11 each
prices include shipping anywhere
email me if you want some.

Custom NLC case

These are made by a good friend, who will be producing more for other NLC owners .... and himself!

This one is the 1st prototype, so a few features to be refined before the final version is ready. It looks great and is nice & solid.

The lettering is cut by CNC and filled with resin. Contact me if you want one ... or two.

Upcoming PCBs

These will be available for DIYers along with panels suitable for Eurorack systems

1. Single Jerkoff Chaos board.
This is the same as the dual Jerkoff module, except the boards have extra components to put together a quad chaos module known as the Circle Jerk, where outputs of each circuit are used to modulate  the others. Only 1 input needs to be used and 12 related but different chaotic signals can be obtained.
Panels will be available for the single and quad versions.

2. Diode ladder and transistor ladder VCFs in coitus..........for lack of a better name
from my DIY page:
Everybody loves the Moog ladder filter, right? TB-303 etc.....
And everyone loves the EMS diode ladder, the Pink Floyd characteristic synth sound, yeh?

So what happens when we mate these two filters?
No, I don't mean what are the offspring like
Lets just see them in coitus!

This circuit replaces the diodes and transistors of the ladders with opto-couplers.
The interesting effect is that the transistor filter does not need an audio input,
The audio from the diode ladder is sent across as infra-red light and turns on the transistors.

There are outputs for each filter, plus summed output and a difference output.
The difference output is quite unique, never heard anything like it.

There is a switch to swap the resonance feedback paths between the filters
which tends to make thing go a bit nuts.

VCF/QUO nonlinearQ demo

this vid is a simple demonstration of the nonlinear resonance (nlQ) effect on this VCF. In the 1st half the nlQ pot is left at zero and the regular Q pot is turned from 0-max.
In the 2nd half, the reqular Q pot is left at max and the nlQ pot starts at max and is wound back.
This VCF is also a very effective quadrature oscillator and is part of the nonlinearcircuits drum panel, more info - http://nonlinearcircuits.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/drum-panel-8.html

panels 7, 8 & 9 on their way

Just sent these off to be manufactured
A re-run of the cellular automata sequencer
plus panels 7 & 8
Panel 7 has stayed about the same, panel 8 lost the mixer and got a new VCF plus a VC Clipper - somewhere between a timbre modulator and VCA

dual ladder VCF proto-type

Listen with good headphones or speakers - lots of bottom end!
This circuit is still quite rough and I haven't settled on all the component values yet. It uses dual opto-coupler ICs - LED to transistor - to form two ladder VCFs. One is a diode ladder similar to the EMS design, the other is similar to the TB-303 transistor ladder, with many parts left off.
The diode ladder gets the audio input and the LEDs transfer the audio over to the transistor ladder, so both VCFs run in parallel but can be tweaked individually. The PCB version will have individual freq CV inputs and a 'both' CV input.
The outputs will be available separately plus a mixed output and possibly a difference output; only allowing the parts that are different between the two signals. It goes without saying the mixed output simply blows chunks!

new Bleeding Gates - 6x VC Slew

This module replaces the 6 VCAs in the filter panel. I just don't really use VCAs much, so 6 in a panel was a waste of space.
So 6 VC Slews, much more fun. In this vid, they are fed gates from the bindubba sequencer and then slewed by LFOs. The outputs control VCOs and VCFs.

7th Panel

Despite the numbering, this will probably be the last panel of this series to actually be built, #9 is finished, 6 is next in line and most likely #8 (drum panel) will be after that.
Originally it was to contain a vocal filter, but it seems a better solution is to have three VCFs, a mixer and a VCA. These can be patched together to obtain approx the same functionality as a vocal filter, or be used separately.

All the designs have tested PCBs:
ARSEq - this is a cross between a sequencer and a complex envelope generator, schematic and more info can be found HERE
Two VCOs, these are similar to the VCOs on the VCO panel but just contain the core circuits to give a sawtooth and modulated pulse. Range is from less than 0.1 Hz to 8kHz, so can be used as LFOs and will perform well into the useful audio range.
Two state variable VCFs with 1V/oct tracking, VC Q, highpass, bandpass and lowpass outputs.
4Q72 VCF is based on the ARP 4072 filter except this one has VC Q, I guess this is the only version of this filter with  VC Q ..... well worth it :)
VC LFO ranges from approx 0.04Hz to 700Hz and outputs sine and square waves
3 input DC mixer, fine for audio too.
LDR based VCA
Delay Spray is based on the PT2399 IC with 2 inputs and CV control of the delay time.

Neuron / Diff-rect Euro panels

Both Papernoise and Synthcube will be selling Euro panels for these boards (Synthcube will have kits as well)

Here is the papernoise panel, will post the Synthcube version when it is available (early Oct)

The Synthcube/Clarke68 version can be seen here - http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1237137#1237137

You probably have to be a member of Muffs for this link to work.......well if you are looking at this kinda stuff, it's time to join up!

6th panel

The PCBs for this panel have been ready for about a year, just kept getting distracted with other projects like the CA sequencer.
Finally got the panel design done and ready for manufacturing.
2 VCOs
 Veena
2 Difference Rectifiers,
Noise module (pink, white, random, vibrato, roar)
6 Fixed filters (think Polymoog)
Phase locked loop,
2 VCAs/ CV Panner
Panning mixer with headphone amp (stereo minijack and 6.35mm mono jacks).
